creativity s'cool: I Can Be… A Designer! (13-17yrs)

Take part in an hands-on intensive skills day with 3 creative workshops delivered by professional Designers.

The Workshops:

Design Your Ideal Town

Liz Kay is a Freelance Illustrator who loves creating creating bold, playful artwork. Everything she creates is hand drawn, often combining illustration with hand lettering. Liz will lead a session on interactive map making where you will design ideal places around your home town.

Wear Your Creativity

Holly Greenwood is self-employed Artist and Illustrator. She loves painting, being creative and everything print and pattern! Holly will lead a session focused on pattern design where you will design your own tote bag using paints on textiles.

Become a Packaging Designer

Laura Richards is a Graphic Designer, Lecturer and founder of Art is My Career. Laura will lead a session where you will design the packaging for a locally produced chocolate bar.  Along the way you’ll learn about branding and how to appeal to different audiences

Explore your Creative Future:

Throughout the day there will be an opportunity for relaxed and informal career chats.  Discover careers in the creative industries, ask questions, and learn how you can make a living doing what you love!

What you need to know:

This skills day is FREE to attend but participants must be available to attend for the full day: 10am – 3:30pm on Wednesday 12 August.

This opportunity is for Wakefield district residents aged from 13-17yrs.

The skills day will take place in the WX1-3 Meeting Rooms at Wakefield Exchange – go up the stairs to the mezzanine level and find us at the Registration Desk. 

Lunch is included, please let us know of any dietary requirements.

As well as the Creative Coaches there will be a trained Youth / Support Workers available throughout the day.
