Monday: 9am - 6pm (please note we will be closed on Monday 25 August for the Bank Holiday)

Notice: The Shed will be closed from 1pm on Saturday 30 August in preparation for the Family Comedy Show.

Accessibility

We are committed to making WX a welcoming and accessible space for everyone to enjoy.

We have full step-free access from our entrances and a fully accessible lift on the ground floor by the main bar.

A Changing Places Toilet (CPT) is located on the ground floor adjacent to the exit into The Yard.

Assistance guide and well behaved dogs are welcome throughout the venue.

Getting Here

Bus

Wakefield Exchange is on Union Street, directly next to Wakefield Bus Station and opposite Trinity Walk Shopping Centre. There is a free city bus linking to both train stations.

Train

Wakefield Westgate is a short 13-minute walk from Wakefield Exchange and Wakefield Kirkgate is 17 minutes away on foot.

Car

With a short drive from both the M62 and M1, WX is easy to reach. There is no parking on site, however there are multiple pay and display car parks in the surrounding area, as well as Trinity Walk Shopping Centre. You can find out more about the available parking locations in the city, via the main Wakefield Council website.

Bike Storage

The venue has 20 cycle parking bays available for use at the front of the building under The Canopy. When The Yard at the back is open later in the year, there will also be a further 20 spaces available for use.

How do I book tickets for events at WX?

You can find out more about the various events via our What’s On page, some events don’t require booking, so you can just turn up for those. For events that require booking, there will be a booking link on the specific event page.

Do you have a cloakroom?

There is no cloakroom on site.

Do you have family and baby facilities?

Yes. We welcome children and families throughout the year. WX is fully accessible to pushchairs, including accessible public toilets, baby changing facilities, and highchairs.

Is there a cash machine at WX?

There isn’t a cash machine based at WX, but you’ll find one in Trinity Walk near Sainsbury’s, Eurochange and Barclays bank.

Are children allowed in WX in the evening?

All under 16s are allowed in the building at any time as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

The exception to this is when an 18+ event is taking place.

Are dogs allowed?

We welcome well behaved dogs during day to day operation throughout the venue. Please note only assistance, or guide dogs are able to visit during ticketed events.

Can I book a table in advance?

No, just turn up and enjoy!

Do you do table service at WX?

All venues are self-service. There are scan codes on the table where you’ll find the various food and drink offerings to peruse. You can order and pay via your device. Alternatively, you can also order directly from the vendor, and they will provide you with a buzzer that will alert you once your food is ready to be collected.

Is WX a good place for social gatherings?

Absolutely! With a large bar and five eateries to choose from, it’s the ideal spot for a social gathering. Whether you’re celebrating, or having a casual get-together, WX is the perfect place!

I think I’ve lost something at WX, how can I contact lost property?

Firstly, if you can we’d suggest visiting WX first to find it or speak with a member of staff. If you are unable to visit, please email hello@wxwakefield.co.uk

What measures are in place for those with allergies?

Allergen information will be displayed on the menus, however please let our food and drink vendors know if you have any allergy or dietary requirements. Please note, as WX operates a communal style dining experience, whilst we take care of reducing cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee a fully allergen-free environment.
