Celebrating 100 Years of the Castleford Male Voice Choir

A Day Through the Decades is a one‑day celebration marking 100 years of the Castleford Male Voice Choir, inviting visitors to travel through a century of music, culture, and community spirit - from the roaring 1920s to the present day. Throughout the day, live performances, dance, guest choirs, and era‑defining music will bring each decade to life, honouring the choir’s remarkable journey through war, social change, and modern challenges.

Alongside the performances, visitors can explore a Century of Motoring showcase, featuring vintage vehicles from every decade since 1926, and a vibrant Makers Market celebrating local creativity with handmade crafts, produce, and choir‑themed memorabilia. Community stalls, including Age UK Wakefield District, will highlight the ongoing issue of elderly isolation and the importance of intergenerational connection - a theme woven throughout the event.

Families can join the Craft Zone, where children and older residents contribute to a large-scale Centenary Collage to be unveiled before the final massed choir performance. Blending nostalgia, celebration, and community purpose, A Day Through the Decades offers a heartfelt tribute to CMVC’s legacy while inspiring renewed togetherness for the next 100 years.
