WOVEN is proud to be hosting a weekend of stitch activities along-side the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt Display. They will be turning The Factory space into a stitch factory with stitch stations.
What to expect?
My Stitch to You!
Join Andi Walker, a multidisciplinary artist based in Leeds, specialising in Constructed Textiles as they take you through a drop in stitch story session.
Working with the stories from the Aids Quilts, Andi will help you make a personal response to one or more panels. Immerse yourself into the people remembered in the quilts by making your own creative response. This may be an emotional activity as you will get to know someone’s story.

Quilted Postcards
Meet activist quilt maker, Chris English, based in Huddersfield, as he shares ways to make quilted postcards that you can take home or send to someone special. We would love to know where your postcards end up, so if you do send them, don't forget to send us an image of them being received.
Chris uses mainly recycled materials and makes quilts with a message.

Meltham Quilters supporting Q4CL
Join Meltham Quilters for a friendly sewing circle throughout the weekend. Whether you already have a sewing or quilting project on the go and would enjoy some company while you work, or you’re a complete beginner looking for inspiration and encouragement, everyone is welcome to come along, chat, sew, and be part of the circle.
Quilts for Care Leavers (Q4CL) is a national charity that provides handmade quilt 'hugs' for young people aged between 18 and 24 who are living independently after their time in care of the Local Authority has come to an end. The quilts are made to promote wellbeing and show these young people they are supported and that someone cares.
The quilts are designed to be easily draped around the body, thereby providing a hug.
We will be bringing some of these special quilts made by the Meltham Quilters with us for you to see, touch and “try on”. Quilts are a wonderful comfort for many, they are handmade with care, they can be wrapped around us like a hug or on our lap for warmth.
Meltham Quilters have been making hugs for years to support young people as they go out into the world.

Family Crafts
Colouring and simple quilt-themed activities will also be available for little ones and their families. Come and explore textures and colours in a relaxed and friendly environvironment.
WOVEN is a biennial festival that celebrates all things textiles. The festival brings people together to mark the significance of textiles in our heritage in West Yorkshire and to inspire people to explore textiles today, whether that's through making as a hobby, artist, student or industry. Textiles play a big part in our lives, from our every day to significant moments of story telling, commemoration and celebration, from quilts, to banners.
These workshops are apart of the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt Display which will be on display in the main hall from Thursday 4 - Sunday 7 June 2026.
