Head over to WX as Ian Whiteley & The Crows of Albion take centre stage with their new album, Wachefeld!

The album is deeply rooted in the district’s heritage, features 18 tracks telling the tales of the people, places, legends and history of Wakefield.

It covers topics such as the mining and textile industries, social and cultural events such as the Westgate Run, Liquorice Festival, Rhubarb Festival, and Heath Common Fair. It also delves into songs about the Cathedral (and becoming a city), the old market hall and Wakefield historical events such as the links with Robin Hood, the battle of Wakefield, WW1 nurse Nellie Spindler and the origins of the nursery rhyme ‘Here we go round the mulberry bush’ - as well as an homage to Wakefield Trinity and the great sides of the 1960’s.

Ian was born in Wakefield, West Yorkshire but now lives in Wigan, Lancashire. He's been writing poetry since way back at school in the late seventies. Ian has performed solidly across the North of England at over 200 slams, music gigs and guest poetry sessions as well as hundreds of open mic performances.
